My Kind of Town, Chicago Is....

Jun 19 2007

Sears TowerI've actually had a couple of days off and decided to spend the time here in Chicago.  So, I grabbed my camera and set out on a self-guided walking tour.

A few weeks ago, the weather here was amazing with not a cloud in the sky!  One of the first things that I did, was visit the Sears Tower.  This is an amazing building.  Next, I was off to stroll down Michigan Avenue.  I got some great pictures as you can see.  Millennium Park is one of my favorite places in Chicago.  It has the cool Crown FountainPritzker Pavilion, theCrown FountainPritzker Pavillion (where the Chicago Symphony does free concerts during lunchtime), and also  the best duck and fish tacos at the Park Plaza Grill.  Millennium Park also has the "Cloud Gate",The Bean but the locals call it the Bean.  It is a great sculpture that gives you a dazzling reflection of the city.

The next day, my friend Bob and I decided to walk down the lake front of Lake Michigan.  We walked by the Field Museum, the Adler Planetarium, and Shedd's Aquarium

Adler PlanetariumThe Field MuseumShedd Aquarium.  I am planning to visit these places on another stretch of days off, but really just wanted to walk around and enjoy the wonderful weather.

We then took a stroll along the harbor and down to Navy PierNavy Pier.  This is a great place to take the family and enjoy some great food; take a Chicago Architectural Boat Tour or an even faster speed boat tour!  By this time in the day, we were hot and tired.  So we decided to go to my favorite movie theater to see a movie.  It is the AMC River East 21.  It is right across the street from what I consider to be the best gourmet grocery store in the city, Fox and ObelFox and Obel They have a great cheese and wine selection as well as an awesome deli case and restaurant.

I still have a lot of things to see and do, but really enjoyed my days off!  If you get a chance to get to this great city, check out some of the things I mentioned, or suggest some of things that you have done and seen, and I'll add those to my "to-do" list.

Ha, ha, Joe! :) I knew that. Is it a candy corn cookie that you won? If I win that kind, I'll share it with you. *Breaks candy corn cookie in half & gives some to Ding! boy Joe.*

I've been hearing about the bad weather around Chicago lately! Wow.

That was just a tag line. Of course you are a winner.
I had a subway game piece here that said I won a cookie.

Now play online!

Hi, Joe. I did hear from Kim not long after I made that comment on the 20th. He has a lot going on now. Hopefully, he'll be back on soon! I don't know why I didn't say sooner that I'd heard from him.

What did I not win? Will I be a winner next time? Maybe I'll win a date with a Southwest employee! Ha, ha; the chances of that happening are as high as it snowing on my birthday, which will never happen!

Leah,
Still no Kim yet?

Congratulations you are NOT a winner!

I just sent Kim an email, Joe, so hopefully I'll hear from him soon!

No, Joe, I haven't. I can send him an email to see if things are okay.

Well, now we know where Brian is, have you heard from Kim Leah?

Yes, I've noticed they've been missing lately, too! :( Hopefully, they'll be back soon.

I hope I can track down the candy corn to see if it's been delivered! I'll have to try. Thanks! :)

You can track it with the z number. Then you would know it has been delivered. Brian seems to be missing from here lately. I haven't seem Kim either.

Collect and win

Joe, I'm not sure! I would think he did though, because I took it to the UPS place near my home on a Monday evening two weeks ago, I believe. I'm assuming they sent it out that Tuesday, so surely he received it! :) I'll feel embarrassed if it melted, though. :(
