Creating Memories, Traditions, and GIRL POWER! Priceless . . .
Creating Memories, Traditions, and GIRL POWER! Priceless . . .
In an earlier blog entry, I shared my thoughts about visiting my extended Vietnamese family in the humid Mekong Delta with my husband, sisters-in-law, and Southwest Coworkers. A month later, I had another amazing family reunion; however, this time, it was in chilly Chicago with an exclusive group: The Delevett Granddaughters. I was included because I married into the family and was allowed to hang with the SISTAHS.
Ranging from ages five to 39, four generations of Delevett women flew from all parts of the country to celebrate Grandma Jeanne's 89th birthday. Some of us hadn't seen each other in almost five years, and we had a lot of catching up to do. We laughed, cried, cooked, and danced – all in our pajamas! Being a Californian, one of my favorite parts of the trip was trying to make angels with the season's first snow. We had such a FUN time together, and we're already planning next year's Granddaughters-Only Weekend.
Speaking of traditions, every milestone birthday I get together with a small group of childhood girlfriends to celebrate life. (Sorry, I'm not disclosing my age.) We recently met in New Orleans, where we let the bons temps rouler and had another unforgettable trip. Words can not express how much I appreciate that these dear friends take time out of their busy, busy lives to meet every five years.
I hope that Southwest helps you and your loved ones create memories and traditions this holiday. Please tell us one of your favorite Southwest trips or one of the traditions you share with your family or friends. Happy Holidays!

i think i just found a new want to get away advertisement. just look at the texas vs. arizona state football game. in the second quarter, a texas staff member "touched" the football giving arizona state the ball back. the entire replay was filled with footage of the staff member with perfect facial expressions for you next "want to get away" ad.
To Whom It May Concern:
If at any way possible to make a "Want to get away" commerical using the Texas vs. Arizona St. NCAA Football game. A Texas personnel stepped on the field and changed the entire aspect of the game.
Hello, I'm trying to send along some positive customer feedback, and I cant really do that on your main web site. That being the case, I hope this is a good place to pass along some compliments.
Yesterday, my wife and I were traveling home from Christmas in Rhode Island with our 3 month old daughter. As a Platinum AA customer, I typically fly American, and I was scheduled to leave on a 11:20 AM departure from TF Green to O'Hare. Due to a skeleton gate crew and bad weather in Chicago, American canceled their flight and we were left high and dry with a fussy 3 month old. I looked at all the other departures headed to Chicago and we raced down the terminal to try and catch your flight to Midway.
The people at the gate were TREMENDOUS and helped us get onto flight #229 with seconds to spare. They were proactive, courteous, funny etc. as they helped us gate check our stroller - They ushered us into the plane quickly, moved some other folks around so we could sit together to handle our baby, and we took off - it was just that easy.
I fly about once a week so I see all sorts of customer service - good & bad. I've never been more impressed with anyone than I was with your people. WOW - what an asset to a company. Here are the specific people that deserve recognition...
Lori LaChappelle was the Operation agent at the gate. there was another person there whose names escapes me, but he was awesome as well.
Sherry Stringer & Kathy Cornwell were the attendants on the flight who took care of us. After hustling to get everything situated and ready for flight, they were nice enough to offer my wife and I water as they could tell we'd already had quite a day. again - I was thoroughly impressed.
I hope all the folks mentioned above get a pat on the back as they represent your brand so well. I will now look for more opportunities to fly SWA.
Thanks Again,
Mark Marinacci
Kim, having you with us was more special for us than you can imagine. Who would have ever thought that I would have a granddaughter from a place so far away and unknown to me for half of my lifetime! Knowing you and meeting your family and hearing your story, your very special story, is a priceless gift to all of us.
Grandma Jeanne
