Gary's Costume
A lot of you have been wondering "who" Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly will be this Halloween. The answer is in, and he revealed his outfit at a gala photo shoot this morning.
The lovely "Edna Turnblad" is visting Southwest Headquarters as part of "her" tour promoting the movie "Hairspray." ![]()
Thanks to Mallory Messina for contributing this suggestion on Gary's blog piece.![]()

Raphael
:o)
Consider me bummed that Gary didn't see fit to use my Kyla Ebbert suggestion, but this costume is funny in its own right!
Wow, Gary, you're hot. All that hair does wonders for you. Hold me back!
Mike
[...] There’s way too much candy here in the office. Before eating every last piece of candy corn, out came the camera and we took a few shots. Elizabeth finessed the image in photoshop to turn our some Halloween candy LUV. Southwest Airlines is all about Halloween! Check out Gary Kelly’s costume… [...]
OUTTA CONTROL hilarity!! You guys are just too much - but I'm absolutely lovin' it!
I'm not sure I will ever forgive myself for listening to Jeff? (an FA on a flight of mine over a year ago) who told me to choose med school over joining the September 2007 class of FAs. Y'all are just having too much fun and I want in! lol
Eat some candy corn for me, too!
cheers, Artie
Ah! That's funny! Ha, ha, ha! I LUV it! :)
"For 8 on your side, I'm Leah Johns."
SWA LUV, & Happy Halloween! :)
I forgot to add that I LUV the candy corn! It looks great! :)
SWA is

OH.
MY.
GAWD.
Gary...I didn't know you had this in you! I am laughing hysterically over here. You made a fellow SWA employee proud. GREAT job. Can't wait to see what you come up with next year!

I saw it on Today In the Sky. Precious ! No photos of Doug Parker yet? Is he too scared to reveal it?
Margaret,
Doug Parker's costume can be found here:
http://www.planebuzz.com/2007/10/one_of_these_people_in_bad_wig.html
Great job! You look good enough to kick off your own planes!
I loved the photo of Edna and Dr. Mc Dreamy. When I first saw it... it sort of surprised me. The expressions were so... good!
Edna had the pucker, head tilt and everything.
This made me wonder... Gary/Edna, when your wife walked in on you shaving your legs (funny) were you also practicing in the mirror? C'mon... fess up! You practiced for a good week when nobody was looking, the walk and all. Right?
Good grief... you're poor wife..."WHAT ARE YOU DOING??"
I'm sure you scared her! HA HA...
The other airlines are watching...thanks for making us proud boss! You're the winner this year... and I don't care what they say!!!
I am sure the folks at the Baltimore hub just love it! Terrific job!
I can only guess that this means he's backing Rudy Giuliani for President?

Love the "big hair."
RedWhite&Brooklyn,
You can't draw that conclusion. Besides, Gary looks better.
Blog Boy
and this from a guy who won't allow women to wear miniskirts on his airline?
Well, Pete Bogs, this woman had on a skirt that was way too short. Gary was covered up more.
SWA LUV! :)
Fact for the day: If you put the words "to", "get", & "her" together, you get the word "together!"
I saw "Gary" walking around LUV field smiling and talking to folks and I figured it was some crazy ramper or flight attendant. I thought..."What a great costume. These SWA folks are crazy." Then a couple of days later I saw on line that it was the big boss of SWA. I couldn't believe it! You guys ARE crazy. Keep it up!!!
Yeah Pete Bogs,
Gary didn't flash anybody his underoos. He just wore a pink shimmery dress, which is perfectly acceptable on any flight. ;-)
I LUV the costume! Way better than Harry Potter!
Nikki
Hahaha! Hilarious! This is why I love SWA!
I didn't say this earlier, but in addition to dressing up as an FA/a CSA, I had my face painted with a Southwest Spirit plane at work! :)
Interesting facts for the day: Budapest is actually two cities! When my parents & I were in Europe for two weeks, we went there & our tour guide told us that! :) My other fact for the day is that Codell, KS, was hit by a tornado on May 20, 1916, 1917, & 1918! :( I'm extremely fascinated by severe weather, especially tornadoes! I really want to be a storm chaser. As much as I LUV severe weather, I LUV SWA even more. :)
Well, it's time to go to bed so I can get up (somewhat) early for Sunday School & church, so goodnight everyone! Sleep tight & don't let the bed bugs bite! Zzzzzzzz.
SWA is
So
Wonderfully
Awesome! :)
Drew,
I saw it but I was wondering they did not release it the same time Southwest released the photo of Gary Kelly Scott Kirby did poor imitation. That was more scary than funny.
I am not so nuts about Southwest as I used to be. I should have 17 Rewards Credits, but am credited with only 8. Eight days ago, I wrote Southwest about this and sent it certified mail with receipt. But I have been ignored.
Mr. De Lancey
I am confident you will hear from our Customer Relations folks. However, it can take 3 to 4 weeks for them to research your letter and respond.
