It’s On Ringtone Contest Winners
You may remember way back into September when an episode of Red Belly Radio featured a collection of contest entries that our Employees phoned in and used the words “It’s On” to coincide with our It’s On commercials that you have hopefully seen on TV or this video blog. You may also remember the episode where I recapped my bout of H1N1 and an additional week off where I lamented not being able to complete a few projects.Just to remind you—the winner was going to get the most amazing prize ever! His or her contest entry would be made into a ringtone!Well, we had a panel of highly trained experts listening and deciding. Strict requirements were put in place to be a judge:1. We had to be a Southwest Airlines Employee.2. Must currently have a cell phone, or have heard a cell phone ring.As you can imagine I had to look long and hard to find qualified candidates, but something I left out of the strict requirements was “Must be decisive.” Had that rule been in place, we might have ended with only one winner, instead we (indecisively) decided that we could have several winners. (Read, each judge got to pick one.)Here are the winners, download these files and install them on your phones at your risk. We have tested them out on several phones around here but not every possible combination of brands and cell service. Enjoy them as you would your first two checked bags on one of our flights—FREE!The winners are:Banjo—Corey, DEN Customer Service AgentDon’t Forget Grandma—Mario, LAX Ground OperationsFargo Lady—Katherine Rilley, BWI Flight AttendantSwing Song—Christina Helbling, SAN Ground OperationsThe Laugh—Joe Jordan, DAL Ground OperationsWheels Up—Chad Martin, University for PeopleFiles can be downloaded below. Even if you don’t want a new ringtone, give them a listen and comment about your favorites. The longest ones are 15 seconds. To download, right click and "save as."

Way to go with the banjo!!!
I love the Banjo ringtone, unfortunatly the credits were wrong. The lovely composer in Corey Cottrell, DEN Cust Serv.
Thanks for the laugh.....What a way to start the day, a good chuckle from the crazies working for Southwest.
Do us all a favor. Don't ever be normal :-)

I know Southwest hasn't had any deaths on their flights and all that, but it still makes me uncomfortable that in an industry that takes so many lives in its hands everyday (customer and employee alike), Southwest remains so flippant about, well, everything. A little professionalism never hurt anyone. I am just very uneasy at the idea of traveling thousands of feet above ground at very high speeds with flight attendants that sing instead of telling me important safety information. I will never fly Southwest again, not even if you offer silly ringtones.
To think, I had to edit the Laugh down (almost in half) to get it to ringtone length. You can hear the whole laugh on the Red Belly Radio episode from several weeks ago titled: It's On Contest" or it is linked at the top of this page. And I have Christina's song on my phone right now. Great tune.
My apologies to Corey in DEN, the actual composer of the Banjo ringtone.

Loosen up. If you think that Southwest's flight crews are unprofessional, then you clearly haven't flown with them. They are the best, and some of the most experienced in the industry. The fact they LUV their jobs isn't a crime. And let's be honest.. how many people really listen to the flight attendants when they fly? I think by being light hearted, more people actually listen and understand the point they're trying to make.
You should fly with them sometimes. I promise you won't be disappointed :)
The Flight Attendants do make all the required announcements and cover every aspect of emergencies and evacuation. If you had a funny bone we would have found it. To each his own and I hope you drink alot of coffee to stay awake during all those boring other airline announcements.
I can't believe people that think Southwest employee's are unprofessional. I am vey proud to work for a company that lets us express our personalities and Luv's their employees the way Southwest does. Everyone should be so lucky to work for such a great company!! Great job to all the winners of the contest. They are all great!!!
TVB, et al.
Before I say what I have to say, let me say that I have no connection whatsoever with Southwest, save for the occasional comment in their blog.
I have flown with numerous numerous airlines over the years. I've seen good ones, and I've seen not-so-good ones, and I can say that I'd never hesitate to fly with Southwest. Having been trained in disaster relief (more specifically, emergency communications) and having worked in the transportation industry for almost a decade, I know professionalism when I see it, I've seen it every time I've flown with Southwest. Southwest takes passenger safety very seriously, be it the rapping flight attendant, the smiling ramper, or the happy gate agent.
Fly with the company of your choice, then with Southwest. I guarantee you'll see who the true professionals are.
