Nuts About Southwest Gate Game...
Hello folks! It has been awhile since I've had the opportunity to post. I'm currently out on a leave of absence and hope to be back at work the middle of March. But since I have A LOT of time on my hands, I thought I'd play a little game with ya'll! So....let's go!
Let's do a game about our accomplishments in the year 2007:
1- Our Customer Service Agents, Skycaps, and Ramp Agents carefully checked and loaded how many bags in 2007?
2 - In addition to offering Positively Outrageous Service to our Customers and ensuring that our aircraft depart safely, our Ops Agents played a key role in turning how many flights in 2007?
3 - Our skilled Pilots flew how many hours and how many miles? Also, how many times around the earth is that equivalent to?
4 - In addition to gracefully managing those seemingly unending lines at the ticket counters and gates, our Customer Service Agents sold how many tickets?
4 - How many boarding passes were issued by our Customer Service Agents?
5 -How many of our GREAT Passengers printed their boarding passes at home? At the kiosks?
6 - Our resourceful and patient Customer Relations/Rapid Rewards Department received and handled how many telephone calls?
7 - How many Customer letters did they answer?
8 - Our efficient Cargo and Ramp Agents transported how many pounds of Cargo?
Go ahead and post your guesses and the three folks with the closest answers to ALL the questions will receive a wonderful prize from Brian's SWAg closet!

I think the CSA's sold about 5 Million tickets, and issues approximately 15 million boarding passes.
Please note, that the Brian above is a different Brian than Blog Boy, although with a great first name like that I am sure he is an amazing guy!
Brian (Blog Boy)
LoL, sorry Brian (Lusk)! I added onto my name to clear up any confusion. I wouldn't want anyone to get greatness confused with greatness. :-D
I got another trivia question for ya...How much do you think Southwest is gonna have to pay in fines for safety inspection violations?
how much will it cost southwest in customers, business and good will.
I wonder if that is why the airline cracked down on skimpy outfits--easier to blow off once the convertable top is off....
yea, i know, bad color......but, flying me in unairworthy aircraft is worse.
Brian and DS - The inspections in question were one of many routine, redundant, and overlapping inspections of our fleet. As an article from todayÃ
All these games are fun, but shouldn't you be worrying about operating the planes safely and legally instead?
I'm disappointed in Southwest. You always claim a passionate commitment to safety, but that's obviously just a hill of beans.
In other news, no one has guessed correctly.
Anyone else want to try?? :-)
This property is classified as: 401 Residential.

1- 102 million bags
2 - 1,160,699 flights
3 - 2,147,000 hours and 730,079,671 miles = 29318 times around the Earth.
4 - 7,100,000 tickets sold
4 - 32,000,000 boarding passes issued by agents
5 - 46,000,000 boarding passes printed at home. 24,900,000 boarding
passes printed at kiosks
6 - 132,000,000 phone calls
7 - 54,800 letters
8 - 181,000,000 pounds of cargo
THERE SHOULD BE ONE MORE QUESTION...
#9 HOW MANY PASSENGERS DID SOUTHWEST BUMP DUE TO PLANNED OVERBOOKING LAST YEAR?
ANSWER: WELL OVER 80,000!!!!
Bud,
I'm not sure where you got your facts, but you're wrong. Southwest's rate of denied boarding is certainly not out of line--in fact, we're in the lower half of the industry in terms of our denied boarding rates, with a significantly lower rate than carriers like Continental, Alaska, Airtran, Delta, United, USAirways, and Northwest. Don't believe me? Check it out on the DOT's website--or click on the link below:
http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/reports/2008/feburary/200802atcr.pdf
And, of course, besides having a relatively low DB rate, we carry more Customers than any other airline in the world. With, by far, the lowest complaint ratio of any US air carrier. So I think we're probably doing pretty well, bud.

Allrighty Guys and Gals -

3 - Our skilled Pilots flew 4.1 million hours and 731 million miles, which is equivalent to 29,338 times around this planet that we call Earth!
4 - In addition to gracefully managing those seemingly unending lines at the ticket counters and gates, our Customer Service Agents sold $174 million dollars in Point-of-Sale tickets!
