Oh, What a Night!

Jul 27 2007

IMAG00321.JPGWOW!!  Another great Awards Banquet at Southwest Airlines.  I had the opportunity to attend the Annual Awards Banquet this year as it was also my ten-year anniversary with the GREATEST Company in the WORLD. Before the banquet started, we all had the opportunity to walk down memory lane and check out the many variations of the uniforms that our Customer contact Employees wore.  Then it was time to eat!

The night started out with some words of encouragement from our very own Colleen Barrett followed by a fabulous dinner of steak and crab cakes smothered in a creamy, shrimp sauce.  IMAG0057.JPGThen I made myself sick on dessert which was a chocolate and white mousse cake with whipped cream and raspberries!  Can you say "YUM!"?

Herb, Gary, and Colleen then presented awards to the President's Award winnersIMAG0069.JPG from each department followed by Herb presenting this years Founder's Award.  The Founder's Award was presented to the remaining 17 original Employees at Southwest Airlines.  IMAG0044.JPGI personally would like to thank them ALL for fighting the good fight those many years ago so that the almost 32,000 Employees now have a place to work, a place to play, and a place that we can hopefully retire from!  Once the awards portion ended we were treated to some entertainment which was hilarious as it took us back in time like a time capsule celebrating the music and the triumphs of the last 10, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years here at Southwest Airlines.  Then it was time to PARTY! IMAG0078.JPGWe had a great band, and we all hit the dance floor.  I asked how many people were there and I think it was close to 2700 people in  attendance.

Thanks to Colleen and the Culture Chicks (Sunny, Lori, Mary Ann, Lacey, and Marilyn), as well as to all of the Volunteers that made this party a TOTAL BLAST!

I look forward to many years to come!  Cheers!

I have over 600 credits with soutwest and had always been a loyal customer. Now that southwest has changed the rewards so I cant use them for anything other than the internet flights I will be booking on more on another airline.

Shelley is way too modest to mention it, so I"ll post the plug for her - Congratulations, my ever-smiling friend, for being a President's Award recipient this year! Shelley was among those who received awards this year at the banquet....and a big kiss, too, to fellow blogger Gordon Guillory, who received the special "Share the Spirit" Award. You two ROCK!!!

Dear SW President,

I spoke to a SW pilot/passenger last week in BNA and he said that the big guys @ SW actually monitor the blogs...so here I am:

I fly SW frequently out of BNA, but have to drive or ride the commuter van all the way to/from Chattanooga. PLEEZ, bring SW in to the Chattanooga airport. It would help us AND bring you a lot of business. We have a newly renovated terminal, but it is only serviced by ASA, Comair, UselessAir, and Alegiant. There are 19 shuttle vans DAILY to ATL (11 passengers) and 14 shuttles DAILY to BNA just from CHA. You could get so much of Delta's ATL business as Chattanooga is only 90 miles from ATL! Redirect the BNA-RDU-BWI flight in the AM thru CHA and then redirect a one-stop flight from BWI to JAX thru CHA. That would get CHA service to/from the BWI hub

AND...one of the AM non-stop flights from BWI to BNA could go thru CHA with another of the non-stop BNA-BWI PM flights would get CHA wervice to/from the BNA hub.

Think about it Check the flight schedules and run the numbers on CHA. I know that the city fathers would bend over backwards to accomodate. And...I would be as happy as a fed pig in the sunshine!
