We Bleed Canyon Blue
We Bleed Canyon Blue
It’s right there in our Mission Statement: “The mission of Southwest Airlines is dedication to the highest quality of Customer Service delivered with a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride, and Company Spirit,” and let me tell you—we take that part about Company Spirit very seriously. In fact, we take it very literally. I know a lot of people who don’t work at Southwest Airlines, and I have never seen them wear their company logo on a shirt, let alone decorate entire rooms in their homes with company memorabilia. But here at SWA, it’s the norm.
A legendary SWA joke goes: How many Southwest Airlines Employees does it take to change a light bulb? Answer: Two; One to change the bulb and one to make the t-shirt. Yep, we make T-shirts for EVERYTHING. I guarantee you that every SWA Employee has at least one T-shirt emblazoned with our logo; we are all well-equipped to show our SOUTHWEST SPIRIT.
The idea for this post came to me one morning when I noticed that almost every car I passed in the lot at Headquarters had something on it representing SWA, so I decided to ask around and see what was really out there--I’m not sure if what I found is a little disturbing or just plain awesome (or should I say “plane awesome”?), but there is no doubt that our Employees are truly proud of our Company.
I now know of at least three Employees across our system with Southwest Airlines tattoos. One Coworker had a SWA-themed wedding. One of my Teammates has an entire room in her home filled with SWA memorabilia. And there’s not a cubicle at Headquarters or a locker out in the field that doesn’t have some sort of SWA goodies on display…and some go WAY above and beyond.
I hope you enjoy the pictures. I also hope that whether you are an Employee at Southwest Airlines or anywhere else that you have even a smidgen of the same sort of pride for your work as these folks (and all our Employees) do. Because, just like superfans of sports teams that say their team colors run through their veins, I do believe that at Southwest Airlines, we bleed Canyon Blue!

Sorry, I couldn't read this blog post as I am allergic to nuts.
Funny stuff - and yes, my bar is fully decorated with Southwest Airlines stuff, as well as my office, and my basement....I bleed canyon blue!
I dont work for Southwest and i may only be 15 however i do plan to work there someday at Manchester or Boston. My room is everything southwest.....and so will my car.....i was even sent a box filled with peanuts after sending my LUV via email to an SWA Customer Employee which i recently got a letter saying my letter i sent back got her an entry in the kick tail thing for showing true spirit to a customer . For me Southwest is not a company...its an addiction that someday i will be a part of.

I LUV the spirit SWA employees have. It reminds me of the spirit I have for the University of Florida - Go Gators!!
I am glad a company positions part of its brand as a friendly, fun-to-work-for place and really follows through.
Keep the positive stories coming,

Without passion there is no success and SWA staff have shown the industry what dedication and passion can do, Kudos
Wow, I thought I was the only person with a SWA room! T-shirts, models, ticket stubs, old plastic boarding cards, bumper stickers, old jetway posters, and even a poster signed by Herb and Collen. I think everyone at Southwest shows they're company spirit everyday. It's what built this company. Great article.
Great blog post. Loved the picture of the mailbox. Thanks for sharing it.
Ooh-rah
hahaha I read this post and the nuts started my day off with a laugh. Thank you SW - see you all on Thursday! (time to get some more reward points going)
I'd love to see what the SWA tatoos look like! How awesome is all of this!
I also hope to work for southwest someday at Boston. I have a few SWA items in my room. I have the Tripple Crown stuffed airplane and a Disposable Camera as well as Lone Star One and Spirit One Pins
Great post!
I am totally jealous of the person who the room in the 2nd picture belongs to!
And where do I get a mailbox like the 3rd picture?
My blood is already "canyon blue", and I'm not even a WN employee! (I'm still in high school!) My room is completely filled with SWA posters, model airplanes and books! ....but not anywhere near as much as the 2nd picture! (which I am still jealous of!)
But I think that it is really cool that employees at WN have a great amount of company pride and spirit to go above and beyond showing how much they LUV & are dedicated to their place of employment!

Canyon Blue is my absolutely totally favorite color~!!
