Lindsey Reynolds Lindsey Reynolds

Lindsey feels silly talking about herself in the third person.

Lindsey is a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, but has little to no enthusiasm for Longhorns, football, or the color burnt orange.

She lived in Portland, OR for a little bit and thinks it has the best Thai/pho/coffee/rose gardens/bicycle lanes in the continental United States. Fortunately, she is a native Texan, came to her senses, and quickly moved back.

Lindsey has only been a part of the Southwest Family for a very short time, but she is happy they adopted her and looks forward to decorating her cubicle. She is already planning her Halloween outfit for next year.

When she is not blogging about Southwest, you can often find her cooking, slow jogging, knitting, using SPF 50 sunscreen, drinking Earl Grey tea, or rescuing homeless pugs.

I’d Rather Be Skiing than Working…Epic Contest

If you’re lucky enough to be traveling this winter season, you might find yourself bogged down with some heavy baggage: skis, boots, and poles, perhaps?

Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed other airlines charging an arm and a leg for you to fly with your bags—let alone your sports equipment.

3Q09 Financial Results discussed today (Thursday) at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time via live Broadcast

Lorenzo, We serve water in cans and reduce the waste by pouring cups per passenger, not doling out cans. We have a dedicated receptacle in galleys for aluminum cans, which has been in place for years, and our Flight Attendants are diligent at putting them in that bin. The bin is then removed at provisioning bases where the aluminum is recycled. In addition, we have been cited for our excellent recycling history by the National Resources Defense Council in a report they did in 2006. We have implemented co-mingled recycling to capture even more recyclable such as plastic, paper, and cardboard. Our environmental record, especially in the area of recycling, is stellar. If you're interested in even more information on our excellent recycling of other materials, check out southwest.com/cares. And, we don't have a beverage cart :-)

Gary Kelly, Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer and Laura Wright, Senior Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer will discuss our third quarter 2009 results via live webcast at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time today (Thursday).

If you would like to listen in, the live broadcast will be available at http://www.videonewswire.com/event.asp?id=62631.

So, you want to be a flight attendant!

Hi everyone, Some advice from our People Department... People should reapply online to be considered each time we post a position. We also suggest that people set up a job alert so that when we post a position, they will get an email alerting them that the job is available. And as always, http://www.southwest.com/careers/ is your best bet! Good luck!

Twenty three years ago I announced to my friends and family that I wanted to become a Flight Attendant for Southwest Airlines. This announcement was met with raised eyebrows, as I was considered by some as not being suited for this profession. "Why not?" you say.

Behind the Scenes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

I’m sorry, but we at Southwest are not familiar with that situation. I haven’t heard of any of the families doing anything like that, but I would check out http://abc.go.com/shows/extreme-makeover-home-edition for more information.

I had the chance to go behind the scenes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in El Paso, TX.  It was great to see how the designers, Eduardo and Paul, who I watch every weekend, are genuinely concerned with the families they are helping.  You can see their Servant's Hearts at work in the video as they un
