I landed at Southwest Airlines in 2004 as a Temp in the Benefits Department. At that point, I had no desire to work at an "airline", I wanted something that was going to be "more fun and creative." (I must have skipped my college marketing class on the day they talked about Southwest Airlines, right?) My first week at HDQ was Halloween; not long after that, the Employee Christmas concert took place, and I was absolutely hooked on the People, the LUV, and the Culture that the Company is built on. I finally became official in on April 18, 2005 when I was hired as an Administrative Assistant in Technology. Two years later, I found my calling--I became one of the "original" Culture Ambassadors, which led to my new position as Culture Activities Rep! If you want to know about New Orleans (my home), Louisiana State University (my alma mater-go tigers!), New York City (my home for three years), Reality TV/Pop Culture (my favorite), or Kookalaka Fettuccini Messina (my dog)--I'm your blogger!

  What will he be????

It’s time again for Gary Kelly’s yearly identity crisis to come to a close.  You all sent your suggestions for his Halloween costume and he chose something that won’t let you down, but you won’t find out what it is until our SWA Headquarters Halloween celebration on Friday, October 30.

In fact, we take it very literally.

...And the lavs smelled so good!

Imagine going to a Company event and walking out with the experience of a lifetime.

That’s what happened to six lucky SWA Employees who won the grand prizes at our 2009 Messages to the Field--a trip for them and a guest to visit the Boeing factory in Seattle and accept delivery of a brand new SWA airplane!

  Bug Appetit!

Ever watch those reality shows like Survivor, Fear Factor, and even I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here and think “there is no way I could eat those bugs and worms”?

Well, look out Sanjaya, because I ate 3 crickets, 1 wax worm, and 3 meal worms, not to mention some cricket artichoke dip and mango waxworm chutney!

I’m serious.

Our Own Version of the Oscars

There’s no red carpet, no little gold statues, and-thankfully--no Joan and Melissa Rivers—just more than 2,500 Employees (who clean up very nicely, I might add) and guests at the Sheraton Dallas for an evening they will never forget.  This year 3,239 Employees are celebrating ten, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years with Southwest Airlines, and what better way to honor their dedicated service to
