I landed at Southwest Airlines in 2004 as a Temp in the Benefits Department. At that point, I had no desire to work at an "airline", I wanted something that was going to be "more fun and creative." (I must have skipped my college marketing class on the day they talked about Southwest Airlines, right?) My first week at HDQ was Halloween; not long after that, the Employee Christmas concert took place, and I was absolutely hooked on the People, the LUV, and the Culture that the Company is built on. I finally became official in on April 18, 2005 when I was hired as an Administrative Assistant in Technology. Two years later, I found my calling--I became one of the "original" Culture Ambassadors, which led to my new position as Culture Activities Rep! If you want to know about New Orleans (my home), Louisiana State University (my alma mater-go tigers!), New York City (my home for three years), Reality TV/Pop Culture (my favorite), or Kookalaka Fettuccini Messina (my dog)--I'm your blogger!

They’re staples in our halls and offices.  They bring tidings of good joy…and bills.  They are the wonderful Employees of our Distribution Services Team!  In non-SWA talk, they would be called “the crew from the mailroom,” but they mean way more to us than that.

This is a song that never ends….

“When I grow up…” that musical masterpiece by the Pussycat Dolls, has been playing over and over in my head for about a week now…and I’m about at my wit’s end.  It’s not that it’s a bad song (or a particularly good one) but for some reason, the high pitched part of the chorus that goes “Be careful what you wish for cuz’ you just might get it, cuz’ you just might get it,

  Bon Voyage (and Welcome), Interns!

I’m never prepared for this.  Three times a year, I find myself dealing with some really strange feelings—those darn “goodbye” emotions that I am just terrible at.

You may have read about our Southwest Airlines No Limits Internship Program and all the incredible things the Interns get to do during their tenure at the Company.

  Backpack Brigade: Thanks for Enlisting!

The children of deployed servicemen and women sacrifice a lot when their parent (or, in some cases, both parents) leave home to serve our country.  So when it came time to plan this year’s Companywide Share the Spirit event, we didn’t have a very hard decision to make once we learned about Operation Homefront.
