| I landed at Southwest Airlines in 2004 as a Temp in the Benefits
Department. At that point, I had no desire to work at an "airline", I
wanted something that was going to be "more fun and creative." (I must
have skipped my college marketing class on the day they talked about
Southwest Airlines, right?) My first week at HDQ was Halloween; not
long after that, the Employee Christmas concert took place, and I was
absolutely hooked on the People, the LUV, and the Culture that the
Company is built on. I finally became official in on April 18, 2005
when I was hired as an Administrative Assistant in Technology. Two
years later, I found my calling--I became one of the "original" Culture
Ambassadors, which led to my new position as Culture Activities Rep! If
you want to know about New Orleans (my home), Louisiana State
University (my alma mater-go tigers!), New York City (my home for three
years), Reality TV/Pop Culture (my favorite), or Kookalaka Fettuccini

By now you've probably read the articles, gotten the Twitter updates, or even seen a local news story about SWA bucking the current economic situation and going on with a huge Employee party in Las Vegas; and you are probably wondering how in the world this happened. Well what happened in Vegas last week is definitely NOT staying there—the stories, pictures, and LUV will live on forever. |

The Southwest Airlines 36th and Last* Annual Chili Cookoff took place in Dallas this past weekend--leaving everyone who came out to play with full bellies…and dirty fingernails. |

You all know that Southwest is the “LUV Airline”, and every year on Valentine’s Day, we really earn that title. All Employees are encouraged to wear red or pink, many flowers are delivered to our locations, candy is free flowing, and one of our biggest SWA traditions takes place at Headquarters: Heroes of the Heart. |
