BREAKING NEWS....THIS JUST IN.....
Jun 12 2008
I'm thinking Wednesday was a slow news day.
One of our Warriors in the Public Relations department called me Wednesday after an Associated Press reporter called to ask why Southwest wasn't accepting reservations past October 30. The reporter was curious about the lack of Holiday availability. I gave my colleague from P.R. the page on southwest.com where she can find the next schedule release... read more
An Unexpected Delight
Jun 12 2008
Yesterday morning, I pulled up to the drive-thru at Starbucks and rolled down the window to order my usual Grande, skinny vanilla latte with one Sweet n Low and powdered cinnamon mixed in. When the barista handed me my drink, it had a green plastic stick with a logo on top in the sip hole.
“What’s this?” I asked the barista.
“It’s a splash stick so your drink doesn’t spurt out while you... read more

Recorded at the San Antonio SeaWorld, I recently had the privilege of covering the first ever, Southwest Airlines Duck Derby for Red Belly Radio. The event was the culmination of eight-months of work by our Onboarding department, to sell 5000 Canyon blue rubber ducks. The Onboarding department is charged with welcoming new Employees during their first year to make them feel welcome and to help... read more

Robert Mark, who writes the Jetwhine.com blog, has been a longtime reader and supporter of Nuts About Southwest. Both blogs have links to the other on our blog rolls, and his blog gives a unique perspective of General Aviation.
Recently Robert flew Southwest Airlines from Dallas to Chicago, and if you will click here, you will see that the circumstances were far from ordinary. Still, as... read more
Oklahoma City.
Jun 09 2008
I'm not sure how many of you have been to Will Rogers World Airport but the renovation is beautiful. I recently flew up to Oklahoma City for the Norman Music Festival. While I was at the airport, I thought it might be cool to show you a cool link to the Oklahoma City Airport information site. The terminal is an extremely beautiful upgrade from what it used to be. There are even some decent food... read more
Jury Duty or Why I need a different job title to use outside Southwest.
Jun 06 2008
I recently got called for jury duty for the first time ever. "Bring a book, you'll be sitting there all day," everyone advised. So I did.
I arrived a few minutes early, signed in, and settled in with my book. A short while later, we were being whisked away in groups. I was so involved in my book I almost missed my number being called--I thought I was going to be just sitting... read more
The Luckiest Girl in the Whole World
Jun 05 2008
My friend once told me that I could find a book to answer any question I had ... and I think she's right! My name is Bev B. and I am a Southwest Employee at our University for People, a self-proclaimed bookworm, and a lifelong learner. And, I think I just might be the luckiest girl in the whole world. Allow me to explain why ....
For many years, I have been a firm believer that self-... read more
Volunteers of LUV podcast

A few weeks ago we honored 23 of our fellow Employees for the amazing work that they do in their communities. On this episode of Red Belly Radio I interview our, Director of Community Relations and Charitable Giving, and blogger, Debra Benton about the event.
This photo of the event, from the Southwest Headquarters Atrium, proves that Brian (blog boy) Lusk attended the event.
You can learn... read more
Dilbert Flys Southwest
Jun 04 2008
Well to be completely accurate, it is his creator, Scott Adams, who flys Southwest Airlines--and he even blogs about it. Not only that, if you click here, you can decide if Scott actually flew with a major motion picture star. Prior to this flight, Scott encountered another celebrity on an earlier flight. (Beware, in the first link there is one word--just one--that, while it is far from... read more
The Circle of Life - Southwest Style, of Course!
Jun 03 2008
April was a memorable month for me, as I participated in significant milestones for two Southwest Employees and experienced one myself while in Moscow! Earlier in the month, a longtime mentor of mine retired after 32 years of dedicating her LUV, talent, drive, and passion to Southwest. From Flight Attendant with hot pants and go-go boots to Director of the Legislative Communications and... read more
