Happy Thanksgiving!
Nov 23 2009
I love the holidays. Whenever someone asks, “What’s your favorite holiday?” I don’t have to even think...it's THANKSGIVING! What's not fantastic about a day set aside to be grateful? In my family, we have maximized the day by cramming in so many traditions that we go home exhausted, stuffed, and so very thankful for all the blessings in our lives.
We start the day by running in a local turkey... read more
Top 5 Holiday Travel “Don’t Forgets”

1. Allow extra time to get to the airport.
Just like your favorite shopping center, the airport is “the place to be” during the holidays, especially on peak travel days. Though our Employees and airport personnel will be working diligently to ensure a pleasant airport experience, we recommend that you allow yourself a bit more time than usual, as many folks will be traveling during holiday time.... read more
The Southwest Porch...Now Open for Winter!
Nov 19 2009
Who’s ready to sip hot toddies, snuggle in a Slanket, and toast ‘smores? That’s right, you are! This week we opened up the winterized Southwest Porch at Bryant Park in New York City. Many of you were with us when we opened the Porch in June. It was so popular that we added some heaters, a fire pit, and even created a new menu so the summer fun could continue into the winter!

FlyerTalk is a blog about the travel and airline industry and the two of these come together on this episode of Red Belly... read more
I’d Rather Be Skiing than Working…Epic Contest
Nov 18 2009
If you’re lucky enough to be traveling this winter season, you might find yourself bogged down with some heavy baggage: skis, boots, and poles, perhaps?
Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed other airlines charging an arm and a leg for you to fly with your bags—let alone your sports equipment.
I don’t want to brag (who am I kidding, of course I do!) but Southwest Airlines... read more
Southwest Flies Home to Wisconsin
Nov 17 2009
"Go Pack Go!"
"It's On!"
Two of my favorite cheers collided on November 1 when I had the pleasure of attending the Southwest Milwaukee tailgate party to celebrate Southwest's opening in the land of cheeseheads. Wisconsin happens to be my home state, and Milwaukee is where my entire family resides, so I couldn't be happier about Southwest's newest destination. The tailgate... read more

Southwest Airlines Employees Give Turkeys to Feed Thousands
Nov 12 2009
At the end of the first week in November, the Denver Rescue Mission was gravely concerned about the lack of turkey donations. Thousands of homeless and low-income men, women, and families were counting on us. We wondered if it was even possible to collect 6,000 turkeys by Thanksgiving. Five lonely turkeys sat in a freezer that could hold thousands. Then along came Southwest—specifically, the... read more
