Southwest Airlines Holiday Traditions...
Dec 24 2007
Each year as the Holidays near, our HDQ in Dallas, TX is magically transformed into a winter wonderland. A Team of Elves almost magically overnight transforms the hallways and nooks and crannies of our HDQ building into something magical. This is something that I've come to look forward to year after year.
Another tradition that we have here at Southwest is a Holiday Tree Ornament. I've... read more

MARRY ME, FLY FREE! And he did.
On October 25, 2007, my hubby Peter and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary in Cambodia. It was a special day because we renewed our vows with my sister-in-law Aimee, an ordained Episcopal priest, who officiated the surprise ceremony. The ceremony set the mood for visiting the sacred and majestic Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples.
Lucky for me, travel... read more

Holiday Travel Tips.
Dec 19 2007
You've heard some Holiday travel tips from Carole Adams, and I want to give you a few more from the perspective of an Employee at the airport. First, remember, your 3-1-1 (no container with more than three ounces of liquids or gels carried in one clear quart-size ziplock bag for one Customer). Second, DO NOT wrap gifts. (The Transporation Security Administration had a Holiday web site.) If you... read more
DOROTHY OWEN--1928-2007

I lost my 79-year-old mom on Tuesday, December 11, after a short but severe illness. Because I've shared so many other aspects of my life with my friends in the Blogosphere, I wanted to share this very sad part of my life with you too, give you a few little details about my sweet Mom, and then let you know (again) how wonderful Southwest Airlines is.

"Because we aren't Santa Claus...THAT's why."
Travel in winter is fun. Invariably, when you plan a trip, Mother Nature throws some weather into the equation, and when it comes to flying, that understandably triggers apprehension in many people. (Hey, I live in Phoenix! Anything below 65 degrees triggers apprehension in me! "Honey! Where's my COAT!!!")
Flying in winter weather is far safer than... read more

Southwest Airlines Holiday Memories
Dec 14 2007
My absolute most favorite food in the word (next to cucumbers and any type of soup) is iced sugar cookies--there's just something about them. I crave them all year long, but the time we have them in my family is at Christmas. Of course, we can't just eat sugar cookies. As with most things around the Holidays, it has to be turned into an event, an occasion, and, of course, a contest. This... read more
Christmas Memory
Dec 13 2007
My favorite Christmas memory is from my college days. I was attending Memphis State University. I lived on campus but had family across town, so I'd alternate going to my grandparents and my uncle's to get a hot meal and wash clothes. I didn't have a laundry basket, so I'd put my laundry in a box and head out.
Since my dad is the oldest of five, I have lots of cousins. Everybody would get... read more
