Since late August, teams of Southwest Airlines Employees have been competing in dozens of athletic events for the City of Richardson Corporate Challenge as part of our “Share the Spirit” mission. These events include a wide range of activities, from hobby sports like horseshoes and darts, to schoolyard games like kickball and dodgeball.

Disney’s current ad campaign is “What will you celebrate?” My answer is “Disney VoluntEARs!” I had the distinct pleasure of welcoming and witnessing the childlike excitement of 20 Disney VoluntEARs arriving at Chicago Midway.

As part of Southwest Airlines Share the Spirit program, Employees are devoted to each and every community the airline serves. Throughout the year, Southwest Airlines Employees reach out to individuals, families, and entire communities providing help where it is needed.

What has four wheels, ten meals and a lot of LUV?  A car full of Southwest Employees delivering Meals on Wheels, of course! On July 8 under the hot Texas sky, more than 270 Dallas-based Employees loaded up 96 cars and scattered across Dallas County to Share the Spirit and deliver food to people in need.

I flew out to LA to plant trees, and I feel so cool every time I say that. Being an Intern at Southwest really does give me the Freedom to Fly, and not just for my own sightseeing and FUN. SWA gives me a chance to help others, like helping the entire city of Los Angeles in an initiative called: One Million Trees LA.
