Even the most casual Southwest Airlines observer is aware of our high flying tribute to our home state of Texas, Lone Star One. On November 7, 1990, the aircraft was unveiled in a ceremony that included the famous Kilgore Rangerettes.
Lone Star One was part of our 20th Anniversary celebrations, and in turn it “begat” our other state flag-themed specialty airplanes, California One,... read more

My Favorite Southwest Airlines Moment

When I was in Customer Relations, we had a committee called the Spirit Committee. This particular group works hard to ensure that birthdays, wedding showers, baby showers, and anything else worth celebrating (which is a lot here at Southwest Airlines) goes off “with a bang.” So, when we got a “newbie” in the Department, we asked them to fill out the Spirit Committee questionnaire. ... read more

Everyone Come Party
May 27 2010
Last week, Southwest Airlines served 68 cities across the country, this week were are up to 69! On May 23, Southwest launched service to Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. But I have a feeling that this airport, not unlike LAX, will be referred to by its city code, not the actual name. The city code is ECP and it is easy to remember since it allegedly stands for Everyone Come Party... read more

On May 23, Southwest launched service to Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. But I have a feeling that this airport, not unlike LAX, will be referred to by its city code, not the actual name. The city code is ECP and it is easy to remember since it allegedly stands for Every Come Party! This week’s episode of Red Belly Radio is about a family I met there and a band with one of the... read more
The Amazing Flying McPhees!
May 26 2010
They fly through the air with the greatest of ease; then they jump from the planes, landing where ever they please. It looks like Jim and Elaine with both of their daughters (Lynnie is a Southwest Flight Attendant); followed by grandkids and assorted McPhee Family Armada.
Why would they do this? you ask with alarm. Don't they know they might break a leg or an arm? The answer will both... read more
