Duck Derby

Jun 10 2008
We just had our first annual Duck Derby on the Lazy River at Sea World in San Antonio. Each of the 5000 ducks represents a current Employee who wrote a Welcome Note to one of our New Hires. It's all part of helping these new folks "get their feet wet." Believe it our not, one of the little guys managed to get a huge lead on all the rest ... but the people who "owned" the top... read more

I'm not sure how many of you have been to Will Rogers World Airport but the renovation is beautiful. I recently flew up to Oklahoma City for the Norman Music Festival. Jury Duty or Why I need a different job title to use outside Southwest.

Jun 06 2008
I recently got called for jury duty for the first time ever.  "Bring a book, you'll be sitting there all day," everyone advised.  So I did.  I arrived a few minutes early, signed in, and settled in with my book.  A short while later, we were being whisked away in groups.  I was so involved in my book I almost missed my number being called--I thought I was going to be just sitting... read more

The Luckiest Girl in the Whole World

Jun 05 2008
My friend once told me that I could find a book to answer any question I had ... and I think she's right!  My name is Bev B. and I am a Southwest Employee at our University for People, a self-proclaimed bookworm, and a lifelong learner.  And, I think I just might be the luckiest girl in the whole world.  Allow me to explain why .... For many years, I have been a firm believer that self-... read more
