WHY NO SOUTHWEST TO HAWAII?
Apr 04 2008
See below for April 10 update
Everyone at Southwest Airlines was saddened by the sudden termination of service by our codeshare partner, ATA Airlines. Setting aside the business relationship for just a second, we appreciate the hard work of our colleagues at ATA, and wish them nothing but the best in the future.
However, I thought I should post a quick blog about a question that's come up MANY... read more

Institutional Investor Magazine Honors our CEO and CFO
Apr 02 2008
Institutional Investor Magazine recently conducted surveys to identify America's Best CEOs and CFOs for 2008. The results told us what we already knew: Gary Kelly topped the list as the #1 CEO in the airline sector, and Laura Wright took top honors as the #1 CFO in the airline sector.

The ABC's of Southwest Airlines' Corporate Community Affairs Team
Mar 31 2008
I recently attended my first Corporate Community Relations Consortium meeting in San Jose, where corporate community relations/affairs professionals network and share benchmarks. I left the meeting feeling a sense of pride for what these committed colleagues (representing Fortune 500 companies such as Yahoo, Intel, eBay, HP, Cisco Systems, and Adobe to name a few) collectively contribute back,... read more
James Bond and the DC-3
Mar 28 2008
Okay, the only relation this post has to Southwest Airlines is that it is about aviation and I am writing it. However, as a big James Bond fan and a even bigger fan of the Douglas DC-3--I took my first airplane ride on one in 1954, I had to share this post that I found on the Flight International blog. It looks like the next Bond film is going to feature this venerable airliner.
See ya at the... read more
Extreme Makeover Volunteers
Mar 27 2008
A couple of weeks ago a few Southwest Employees in the New Orleans area had the rare chance to participate in the filming for Extreme Makeover Home Edition! As many of you know, Southwest is a long time sponsor of the show, and we even had the opportunity to incorporate a few airplane rooms into some of the previous episodes.
This particular event involved one of our aircraft and the scene was... read more
Weigh to Go!
Mar 26 2008
I woke up with my subconscious screaming, "Stop the insanity!" On the day before the Super Bowl, I dined with friends at one of those restaurants serving continuous meats on a sword and endless salads, lobster bisque, vegetables... It was truly the Last Supper! Still feeling stuffed, my mind wandered back to the beginning of my career when we had Weight Check. My maximum weight in 1984 was... read more
The Pooch Parade
Mar 24 2008
I came across this blog post today about the Dallas Pooch Parade. The dogs were paraded through Lee Park in Dallas on Easter Sunday. There were three categories to compete in: small dogs, large dogs, and dog-owner look alikes. Pictured below is the winner of the "large dog" division....a bulldog dressed as a Southwest Airlines classic plane. Click here for the full story from the Dallas... read more
