Colleen Barrett thought Southwest Airline’s orange flight attendant uniforms "were hideous" and figures the airline industry has probably lost more money than it has earned over its existence.

Barrett, president emeritus of the Dallas-based airline, shared these thoughts and others about employee relations during the 2009 Daimler Financial Services Women’s Conference on Wednesday at the Omni Fort Worth. She was an original employee when the company was founded in 1971and still goes to the office daily.

The Star-Telegram asked a few questions. To read more, visit: http://www.star-telegram.com/business/story/1719376.html

I have always wondered why Southwest flightattendant uniforms were so casual, not that anything is wrong with them, but at the same time I have been trying for 3 years to be a flightattendant with Southwest and gain employment with this wonderful airline! A nice navy blue suit with Southwest colors would be perfect for the flightattendants. I don't give up easily, I will become a flightattendant with Southwest! Keep making people smile Southwest, I can hardly wait to be apart of your team!
