Access to Headlining Artists: Alanis Morissette

Sep 21 2012
Back in August, we were fortunate enough to land, what I would have to say, one of the biggest artists we’ve yet had the pleasure of working with through our Live In The Vineyard partnership.  Being the Official Airline of Live In The Vineyard, an event that takes place twice a year in Napa, CA, comes with quite a few perks.  Perks even beyond the fact that we get to send Customers and... read more

Adventure in Tampa Bay

Aug 24 2012
Whether you have flown on one of our Southwest planes this month, or just happened to have picked up a copy of the August issue of Spirit, Southwest’s inflight magazine, chances are you by now have seen the beautiful 20-page special section featuring Tampa.  As the city gears up for the 2012 Republican National Convention next week (August 27-30), all eyes will be on Tampa, which is... read more

Mulching, Painting, and Trash Pickup, Oh My! [UPDATED]

Aug 30 2012
What a great event and amazing display of Servant’s Hearts we saw at the volunteer event following our exciting announcement of Colorado One! More than 120 Southwest and AirTran Employees and their families rolled up their sleeves to help beautify Commons Park. Here’s a huge thank you to our partners at Denver Parks and Recreation for all their help! Here’s how we helped: Cut 20 cubic... read more

The Most Gratifying Pursuit

Aug 24 2012
"I am 12.  I am Kait.  I am brave.  I beat cancer.  I am loved." This photo of Kaitlyn greets me every morning as I sit down to start my day at Southwest Airlines.  Kaitlyn is not just any girl, she is the daughter of one of my fellow Co-Hearts, Erika Perry in Southwest’s People Department, and I have had the privilege to watch her grow up in my time serving the... read more

Dish Trip: Dallas

Aug 20 2012
We recently packed our bags and headed to Dallas to taste-test what the large-and-in-charge city had to offer. Although our Dish Trip crew dined happily at a few spots that whipped up the expected—but delicious—big and bold flavors of Texas, there was a farm-to-table scene bubbling underneath the surface that quickly caught our food-loving attention. We explored several sophisticated eateries and... read more

Zoey the Wonder Dog!

Aug 15 2012
Zoey is my two-and-a-half-year-old Boston Terrier, and we believe that she is Southwest's most frequent flying pooch! She has been flying with me on a regular basis since coming into my life. A year and a half ago, my husband had a medical emergency making it necessary for me to fly no less than one or two roundtrips every month, dog in tow.As it turns out, Zoey absolutely LOVES fly days! The... read more

CONTEST ALERT: #ViddyADay Will Help You Get Away!

Aug 27 2012
You know the old saying... a Viddy a day keeps the doctor away?  Okay, so I used my unwarranted creative license there, but it's not entirely false.  For three days in August, we're partnering with our Viddy buddies to give you a chance to get away to one our 76 Southwest cities.     The objectives are the same, but very different.  Of course, you must have the Viddy app... read more

SWA Star of the Month: AJ Davis

Aug 15 2012
A.J. Davis might look familiar to you. He’s a Southwest Airlines Pilot, and he might even be flying your plane right now! A.J., a Baltimore/Washington–based First Officer, joined the Southwest Family six years ago. Prior to that, he served in the U.S. Navy for more than 22 years.  In the fall of 2011, A.J.’s Servant’s Heart won him Southwest’s Winning Spirit Award, which is given to... read more

Flashback Fridays: A Look at Headquarters Past

Aug 10 2012
Those of us hired after 1990 weren’t able to experience the old Southwest Headquarters facility at the former Braniff Love Field Concourse.  For a little more than ten years, this unusual building served as the heartbeat of our system, and it was the first example of Southwest coming up with alternate uses for the many gates that were left empty when the other airlines moved to the DFW... read more

Maintenance & Engineering: Going for the Gold

Aug 10 2012
Thursday afternoon before London 2012 began, we had our weekly team meeting.  Someone brought up the idea of office "Games," and we all agreed it would be a great way to bring the department together. We decided to dress up the following day like world class athletes, go to breakfast with the department in The Landing (our Headquarters cafeteria), and then spend Friday afternoon coming... read more
