Casey Welch

Just a twenty-something-year-old who is learning as she goes. I have a passion for communication and a heart for community. I’ve found the perfect marriage of these with my position at Southwest as the Community Relations and Charitable Giving Team’s lead communicator. I LUV it! (Insert Molly Shannon kick here.) Your Favorite Southwest Story

One of the most special moments for me at Southwest was when I was sitting in a meeting with CEO Gary Kelly and some of Southwest’s most outstanding Employee volunteers. We gathered over breakfast to honor these volunteers’ contribution to our communities. I watched as they excitedly and sometimes tearfully shared their stories and their hearts for various causes. It meant so much to me that our company makes such an effort to support the causes that are closest to our Employees’ hearts. I’ve since experienced several special moments and countless tears of joy with my Coworkers. It’s a blessing every day to share in the lives of such amazing people.

Southwest MOWs Meals for the Elderly

Aug 11 2009
What has four wheels, ten meals and a lot of LUV?  A car full of Southwest Employees delivering Meals on Wheels, of course! On July 8 under the hot Texas sky, more than 270 Dallas-based Employees loaded up 96 cars and scattered across Dallas County to Share the Spirit and deliver food to people in need. This wasn’t our first rodeo delivering Meals On Wheels (pard’n the Texas pun). Southwest... read more

Volunteers of LUV Award Recipients

It’s not often that people can say they are inspired by their Coworkers. Many times, people are lucky to remember their Coworkers’ names, much less their passions, hobbies, families or, for that matter, anything they do outside of the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Who are these people that we spend our days with? What makes their hearts beat? For the past few years, Southwest has awarded a... read more

Bring Your Chili to Work Day

Mar 27 2009
No, it’s not a typo. On Monday, the SWA Communications department held a mini chili cook-off competition called Bring Your Chili to Work Day; and seven Communications Employees “BU- ROT – IT!” The smell of meat and spices hung heavy in the air to the dismay of a few people, and in several cubicles, a crock pot could be found plugged in under the desk. They meant business.   It was a heated... read more

Getting Out the Vote

No one argues that Southwest's Employees are its greatest asset. Southwest Airlines Employees are historically known for being active advocates of their Company. After years of hard work and long hours, the effectiveness of their advocacy was proved in 2006 when the antiquated Wright Amendment was repealed!  With a new year, new challenges face the airline industry and specifically Southwest... read more
