Erin Terry

Born and raised in Austin (proud 4th generation native of Texas’ most trendy city), I’ve lived in the Lone Star State for my entire life. When it came time for college, I decided to go a little bit country and headed for the bright lights of Bryan/College Station. Five years and two degrees later, I hung up my cowgirl hat, sold my horse (please tell me my sarcasm font is working!), and headed to Big D after brief stints in Austin and Houston. A life-long Southwest traveler, stockholder, and all-around advocate, I was fortunate enough to snag an internship in the Marketing Department while in college. Upon moving to Dallas, I lucked out again and was hired full-time in 2005. Since then I’ve held positions in Customer Support & Services and Purchasing before returning “home” to Marketing.

National Travel & Tourism Week: Oh, The Understated Places You Should Go

May 12 2012
Earlier this week, we asked our Facebook faithful about the quirkiest places they've traveled to from a Southwest city. If you’re a clam chowder-a-holic like I am, it’s all but confirmed that Fisherman’s Wharf in the heart of San Francisco is your motherland.  If bread bowls are your scene, then allow me to keep you from making a rookie mistake on your next trip to the Bay. Avoid the... read more

School's Out for Summer

Jun 08 2011
Well, friends, the time of year is finally upon us-- can you hear the millions of teachers, parents, and students from sea to shining sea shouting with joy? I sure can! And I must say, as a year-round, cubicle-bound Employee, I’m more than a wee bit jealous…but I digress. A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting Mrs. Anderson’s 4th grade class at Patton Elementary School in Austin, TX.... read more

InAirtainment, Baby….(& Free Music Too!)

Feb 18 2011
Alright stop, collaborate, and listen….Southwest’s back with a brand new invention…. Remix! Certain things make me a little cranky. That post-vacation pile of laundry that never seems to dwindle, leaving home without my beloved drink coupons….and of course, sitting next to that inevitable traveler who likes to hear the sound of their own voice for an entire 3 hour flight to Vegas (no sir, I... read more

Antlers Up to a Remarkable Rangers Season

Nov 03 2010
As the saying goes "there’s no crying in baseball". So while, admittedly, I’m a bit bummed that the World Series is over, I’m trying to focus on the positive. My beloved Texas Rangers made it to the big show for the first time in franchise history and I got to be there in person to witness their big win in Game 3! You’ve been able to feel the excitement in the air throughout the entire... read more

What’s In A Name?

Dec 21 2009
Quite a bit, apparently. At least we think so. It all started with a few dozen donuts, kolaches, (it’s a Czech-Texan thing…see pic below) and a dream. A dream that a group of Marketing and Communications Employees wouldn’t get completely loopy from all the sugar in the room and actually come up with a creative name for our newest e-mail. kolache [kuh-lah-chee]: a type of pastry consisting of... read more

Not Yo Mama’s southwest.com

Nov 10 2009
1995 was quite the year. The DVD was invented. Kodak introduced us to the world of digital photography. eBay was founded. While these major milestones were occurring, we here at Southwest were ready to debut our own innovation that would change travel as we knew it. In 1995, southwest.com was born. Let’s kick it old school for a bit, just for grins. Admittedly, our original site (known as the... read more

Always the maverick, in 1998 Southwest Airlines revolutionized industry standards once again by offering Customers the opportunity to receive e-mail notifications of sales and special promotions... read more
