I was born on an island and raised in China… I'm married with two children. Enjoy getting exercise by weight lifting and playing basketball. Hobbies include flying radio controlled airplanes, and working on my lawn/landscaping. While growing up in China I became fascinated with airplanes because I would see them flying over my house as they were on their way to spray fertilizer on the nearby rice fields. Just to let you know I am a native Texan… The island I was born on was Galveston Island… and I was raised in China, TX (near Beaumont, TX.) I hired on at Southwest Airlines in May of 1997 and am currently a Structures Mechanic in the Heavy Maintenance Dept.

On May 31, 2007, I became one of the 41 Southwest Airlines Employees to be recognized for the work we've done in the community as representatives for the Company. I was a Co-Recipient of the Share the Spirit Award for 2006 along with fellow Aircraft Mechanic Dale Dixon, for our work with the Tuskegee Airmen organization.
Southwest Airlines has been supporting Tuskegee Airmen Inc. for several... read more

I would like to congratulate a few of my fellow Mechanics on their awesome accomplishment: They won Gold at the 2007 PAMA Aviation Maintenance Olympics. This was the third year that Southwest Airlines had participated, and the Team won Bronze the two previous years.
The Team Members were Kyle Acuna, Scott McNabb, and Nick Ostalecki, and the coaches were Dennis Pelletier and Tom Zollars.

Back in the Day

One Sunday evening I strolled across the street to the home of my neighbor, Denny, to hang out for a little while, and he introduced me to a gentlemen who was visiting him named Joe.
Our conversations went from real state to lawn care to our place of employment, and that's about the time Joe asked me what I did for a living. I told him that I was an Aircraft Mechanic for Southwest Airlines.... read more

In celebrating Black History Month, there are a number of African Americans who are so deserving of praise for helping make this a great country to live in. My childhood days of learning Black history brings back memories of people like Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad, George Washington Carver and his 300 uses for peanuts (the official snack of Southwest Airlines), and Martin Luther... read more
SAY WHAT?
Feb 21 2007
Growing up in China, Texas, I was taught that you should not put your family's business "in the streets." The same should apply in the workplace, because you never know who could be listening.
I had the misfortune--or maybe it was fortune--of hearing two employees of a rival airline speaking so negatively about their employer. What surprised me the most was the time and place in which their... read more
THE BIG 4 OH!!!

Hello bloggers of this great universe, Happy New Year. I would like to take this time to reflect on the year that has passed and say that I'm very thankful for the year that was 2006.
You see, I will always remember 2006 as the last year of my 30s. Now that I'm considered "over the hill" (I turned 40 the day after Christmas), I wonder what I'm supposed to do now?
Do I use my recliner more than... read more
MAKING IT READY

Those of you who read Sunny Abercrombie's post CAN WE BOTTLE THAT SMELL? will remember when she asked the question, "love that new car smell?" Well I'm here to tell you that there is nothing like the smell of a new Boeing 737-700.
On September 26, 2006, aircraft N257WN was delivered to Southwest Airlines from the Boeing Company, and upon its arrival in Dallas, it taxied onto the ramp just outside... read more
"GREATEST GENERATIONâ€Â
Aug 25 2006
World War II may seem like ancient history to some of us, but, in fact it's living history. A number of the brave men and women who helped shape the way we live in this great country are still with us. If you ever get the chance to meet someone from what Tom Brokaw cites as "The Greatest Generation," those who fought for this country, please thank them. I have been blessed to meet a few... read more
PLEASE COOL OFF…

The spring and summer months brings out us R/C (radio control) pilots so that we can show off our latest projects that took most or all winter for many to build. I've been flying R/C airplanes for 14 years, and I have never built an airplane from a box of sticks (kit form). I have always flown ARF's (almost ready to fly), and most of these type airplanes are 80-90 percent pre-built. I can't say... read more
CHINA TOWN
Aug 04 2006
I finally had a chance to head down to the place I will always call home, China, Texas, where not much has changed from the last time I was there. This little town has seen it all, and, as a matter of fact, the last time I came home was to get my parents after Hurricane Rita blew through. The only physical change I've noticed is the lack of trees due to the storm. China has a population of 1,112... read more
