I’m your average work full time, school full time, starting a new family while training for an IRONMAN triathlon kind of guy so I was ecstatic when I heard I could finally fill my free time with blogging for Southwest Airlines. I’m in Safety Programs for Ground Operations making sure our Employees, Customers, and 737s are safe and happy! I am finishing my Masters in Aviation Management at Arizona State University (Go Devils!) the same fantastic school where I hold a BS in Marketing. I am happily married to my wife Lara and have one daughter named Cadence.

Your Favorite Southwest Story

I had wanted to work for Southwest Airlines for a while and finally had the opportunity to work at the Phoenix CS&S (Reservations) Center in 2009. It was during training that my wedding had already been set. Although my new wife and I had to give up our honeymoon since I could not miss training, I will never forget the extraordinary lengths my coworkers went to make sure this time of my life was as special as possible. Keep in mind I had only known these people about three weeks yet we were greeted with gifts, a bottle of champagne when we boarded our plane back from Denver where we had the wedding, and the never ending support I still feel today from my Southwest family.

We Are Family

You can imagine the pain we felt in our hearts that this was happening to our little girl. We were brand new parents, who felt challenged enough to not mess up our first child as we learned our way through this new... read more

A Change of "Planes"

Apr 07 2011
When I was first hired by Southwest Airlines back in September of 2009, I was told to prepare for the “Flight of your Life." They weren’t joking.  I realized, as I was coming up with a title for this post, how far that metaphor really runs, in light of the many career paths our people take here. Sometimes that “Flight of Your Life” has  a “change of planes” to get a person to their... read more
