If you would have asked me five years ago if I thought I’d ever work in the airline industry, I probably would have said no. That’s the beauty of this Company. The mix of talent, skill, and background is what makes Southwest Airlines so appealing; it’s almost difficult not to fit right in. When I began my Southwest career as an Intern, I knew that I had seriously stumbled upon something special. After my internship, I decided I wasn’t ready to leave, and was able to get hired on as a fulltime Employee. I began my journey in the Culture Activities Department where I gained a wealth of Company knowledge, focusing primarily on our internal Customers—our Employees! I’ve now been here for three years; to many Employees, I’m still considered a “newbie”! I now reside in the Communications Department as a Communication Specialist. As part of this integrated Team, I find myself working on a wide range of projects and responsibilities, including: public relations, media relations, internal communication, event planning, social media involvement, corporate social responsibility and Green efforts, along with continuing to stay involved in numerous Culture initiatives.

Depending on which “home” I am visiting at the time, I have Family in three locations. I often travel back to my hometown State of Michigan to see my family. I frequent BWI to visit my parents in Annapolis, MD, and last but not least, my very close friends and great Coworkers are considered my Texas Family!

Your Favorite Southwest Story
Definitely the time when I was lucky enough to score a seat on the brand spankin’ new Illinois One, flying back to Dallas from the Chicago Message to the Field. Herb was walking up and down the aisle talking to everyone and mixing drinks in the back galley; a trip I’ll never forget!
