Inflight Beverage News: Southwest Now Offers vitaminwater

May 01 2013
I remember the first time I tried vitaminwater.  I was on a hiking date and the boy I was with had packed us a picnic lunch complete with vitaminwater.   After this, I was hooked on both the guy (we were married in November) and the drink.  Needless to say, I am excited that starting today I can enjoy vitaminwater while flying Southwest.  We are launching the... read more

Live at 35: Casey Abrams

Nov 02 2012
The Live In The Vineyard Live at 35 concert series surprised Customers onboard Flight #459, from DEN to MKE, with a concert by American Idol finalist Casey Abrams.   Casey performed two of his songs, Stuck in London and Get Out, to a sold out crowd at 35,000 feet.  One Customer was overheard saying, “This is why I love Southwest!”  Just like that Customer, Casey has always... read more

Southwest Airlines Presents Live from the Artists Den Featuring Iron and Wine!

Nov 21 2011
I’m not cool—especially when it comes to music. It’s not that I’m not open to new sounds; it’s just that I’m stuck in the nostalgia of my favorite artists.  So, when I had the opportunity to attend a taping of the PBS show Live from the Artist’s Den featuring Iron and Wine in Atlanta, I jumped at the chance to expand my musical knowledge.  On November 10, I headed to Atlanta's... read more

Red River Rivalry Repeats Itself at Pigskin Plane Pull

Oct 07 2011
In North Texas nothing says, “It’s Fall!” more than the Texas State Fair and football.  And the Red River Rivalry—where the University of Texas (UT) goes head-to-head with the University of Oklahoma (OU) at the historic Cotton Bowl in Dallas—brings these two things together in a way that will make you wave your Fletcher’s corny dog in the air and root, root, root for either the... read more

Turning 40 the Southwest Way

Jun 17 2011
I’ve been working for this airline for nearly 13 years and one thing still amazes me—that fact that nobody can celebrate quite like Southwest!  Saturday, June 18, marks Southwest Airline’s 40th anniversary—but why contain the festivities to just one day?  We started celebrating our 40th year back in February with Gary’s Messages to Field.  These “state of the... read more

40 Years in 40 Days: Class of 1998

May 22 2011
In August 1998, I moved from San Antonio to Dallas.  I was 23 years old, and didn’t know a soul in “Big D.”  Given the friendly, Fun-LUVing, and social atmosphere of Southwest Airlines, I quickly made friends, many of whom have become family to me.  Now, being 30-ish (I’ll let you do your own math, but if you do it “right” it only totals 32), I’ve carved myself a nice, comfy little... read more

Social Media Geeks Descend Upon Blogworld

Oct 19 2010
Twitter Guy #1:  "You look thinner in person." Twitter Guy #2:  "No, it's the hair transplants. They are as fake as they come." This is but one of the conversations I overheard at the 2010 Blogworld and New Media Expo that took place in Las Vegas this past weekend.  With thousands of social media “geeks,” myself included, descending on Sin City, twitter buddies (like the... read more

An Optimized Halloween

Oct 29 2009
In case you haven’t seen the other blog posts, Halloween isn’t just a big deal here at Southwest Airlines—it’s ginormous!  At our Headquarters here in Dallas, various departments plan decorations and practice skits for months...and the competition is always fierce.  For the third year in a row, I am charged with organizing Southwest’s Halloween festivities.  It starts with securing outside... read more

All Cowed-up and Ready to Go

Aug 15 2008
One of the things I love most about working for Southwest is that you can never really anticipate what exactly you’ll be doing from day to day.  One day you can be called on to go over to Love Field to help escort Mikel Gorbachev through the airport (the best part was when something caught his eye at the Everything $10 Gift Shop) and then the next day be dripping sweat from counting and... read more
