I work for a retailer and travel the country setting new stores. I'm on the road 10 days and home for 4; then repeat. Needless to say; I get on a Southwest plane a lot!

Fun Facts

Favorite Southwest Moment

Too many to mention! However; always having fun flight attendants is a must; and always happens :) A few months ago; a flight attendant on our flight from Kansas City to Louisville, Ky was from Louisville. The pilot was from the east coast; and the two went back and forth saying "Loooey-ville" or "loooois-ville" the pilot even interrupted the flight attendant during her speech over safety when she said the city we were going to and said it his way. the flight attendant then said "go back to Worchester; pronouncing it wrong. lol

Finding Friends in Unexpected Places

Sep 06 2012
A little over a year ago, I hadn’t yet hired on with Southwest Airlines.  In fact, I wasn’t even an Intern. My mom was working for Southwest Airlines, and because of her, I had flight benefits.  Since I was a college student with three-day weekends every weekend, I frequently visited friends in other cities. One weekend, I found myself in the Reno Airport checking in for my flight... read more

Nurturing Tomorrow's Leaders

Sep 06 2012
“And the Winner is…” Stomp, stomp, stomp, and more stomp, stomp, stomp!  Forty eight thunderous feet created a human drum roll, as I unsealed the envelope and announced that the New York chapter had received a coveted achievement award at the annual OCA Chapter Awards luncheon.  And with a party mix booming in between award presentations, the high energy luncheon was a great way... read more

A few weeks ago Southwest Airlines hosted its 3rd Annual Diversity Summit, a day dedicated to celebrating the unique perspectives that we all bring to our Company, our country, and our world. As Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, it gives me great pleasure to host an event that was attended by more than 200 participants from all across the country, as well as by many of our Southwest... read more

Flashback Fridays: A Look at Early 737-200 Delivery Flights

Sep 07 2012
Taking delivery of a new aircraft is a “big deal.”  I’ve been fortunate to have traveled to Seattle to pick up two new aircraft, and for an avgeek like me, it is an exciting time.  Even if the aircraft is “just another 737-700,” that aircraft will remain “yours” as long as it is flying—my two are N436WN and N215WN.  For this edition of “Flashback Fridays,” we are going to turn the... read more

I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Sep 07 2012
What’s it like to get to tour the Oshkosh airshow?  Well, in early August  (Ok, really late July) I went to the EAA Airventure show in Oshkosh. But I wasn’t there by myself—a couple contest winners joined in on the fun as well. Simple enough, people entered a sweepstakes at southwest.com. To enter, it took little time and required no math. Jennie and Joe from the Chicago area won!... read more

Flashback Fridays: A Longtime Relationship with College Football

Aug 31 2012
Another college football season starts this weekend in earnest, and in my browsing through still more black and white negatives, I found some photos that involve my favorite school getting together with my favorite airline.  I should note that Southwest recently became the Official Airline of the Athletic Department of the University of Texas, but before we begin, I must make full disclosure... read more

Live at 35—Music in the Sky!

What would you say if I told you there’s a possibility that your next flight could double as a concert venue?  You may be a little confused and think I’m off my rocker, but I’m serious! As the Official Airline of “Live In The Vineyard,” an event which marries people’s access to recording artists, top tier wine makers, and world-renowned chefs during an exclusive winner-only experience in... read more

Building a Playhouse for Good

Aug 06 2012
As a Southwest Airlines Mechanic, I spend my days working on Southwest’s all-Boeing 737 fleet.  Three years ago, I was given the opportunity to roll up my sleeves to work on a completely different kind of project—a project that would require many hours off the clock, creativity, and most of all, a passion for making a difference in a child’s life. I first heard of the project from... read more
